University of Bordeaux
France

Biography: MBD defended her PhD in Molecular Electronics under the supervision of Pr. Jean. Marie.Lehn (1989) in Paris, Collège de France. After a postdoc in biophysics (photosynthesis), MBD developed her own research activities as CNRS researcher in molecular photonics and Nonlinear Optics. After working in the Chemistry Department at Ecole Normale Supérieure, MBD moved to the University of Rennes in 2000 to start a new research group on Molecular Photonics and Multiphotonics (CNRS-ATIP grant), then to Bordeaux University in 2011 (Excellence Chair). MBD is recognized for her expertise in the design and synthesis of molecular compounds and nanoparticles for optics and applications in various fields, especially life sciences (bioimaging, therapy, biomedical sciences). A special emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary approaches and her current research focusses on molecular biophotonics and nanophotonics. 322 publications in international journals, 6 book chapters, 8 patents, 130 invited lectures at conferences, 97 invited seminar. Awards: Bronze and Silver Medals of the CNRS (1990, 2008), Physical Chemistry prize (1996) and Achille Le Bel (2024) Major Prize of the French Chemical Society, Academy of Sciences Major Prize Mergier-Bourdeix (1999), Légion d’honneur (2011).
